Mac Masina Foundation

The Power of Sport to Transform Lives

Our Story

The Mac Masina Foundation was founded on a simple but powerful belief — that sport has the ability to change lives. In communities like Soweto, where young people face daily challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and violence, sport becomes more than recreation — it becomes a lifeline. Our mission is to use sport as a tool for social change and youth development. Through our Community Sports Programme, we engage young people aged 14 to 35 in rugby, soccer, athletics, and netball, offering them structure, mentorship, and a sense of belonging.

But our work goes beyond the field. We focus on developing essential life skills — leadership, teamwork, discipline, and resilience — while creating pathways to education and employment. By doing so, we help young people build self-confidence, improve mental health, and discover their potential both as athletes and as community leaders. At the Mac Masina Foundation, we’re not just building better players — we’re shaping stronger, more hopeful communities.

Our Five Year Model

In South African townships, many young people face tough challenges and limited chances to grow. The Mac Masina Foundation is here to bring hope, open doors, and help every young person believe in a brighter future.
